We had three fantastic runners who completed The Big Half 2024 for us on Sunday 1st of September. Between them they raised a very impressive £1,591 for the charity, and we are all hugely grateful for their incredible efforts and of course to all their sponsors.
For anyone who doesn’t know, the run goes from Tower Bridge in London to the Cutty Sark in Greenwich. It’s exactly half a marathon in length, and so 13.1 miles (21.1 kilometres ).
From left to right in the picture our runners are Nathi Ngwabeni, Brian Mushonga and Ieuan Galvin.
They are all keen runners but all confessed that they suffer when running and the best part of the run is completing it!
Nathi and Brian who both belong to the same running club, volunteered through hearing of the charity’s work.
Ieuan has a very strong interest in Cystic Fibrosis as his sister has the disease, and it was at his sister’s wedding earlier this year that he met our Chairman, David Wilford who asked if he would be interested in running the Big Half for CHI, to which he was very happy to say “yes” !
Trustee Michael Ridgway and his son Laurie (who ran the Big Half for the charity a couple of years ago) met up with them in Greenwich on the day.
Looking to 2025, we are delighted to say that Brian will be running for CHI in next year’s London Marathon on Sunday 27th April.
